Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for New World Screwworm

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the emergency use of IVOMEC (ivermectin) 1% Injection for the prevention of infestations caused by New World screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax) larvae (myiasis) when administered within 24 hours of birth, at the time of castration, or upon the appearance of a wound in cattle.

This authorization excludes female dairy cattle producing milk for human consumption and calves intended for veal production.

Important: IVOMEC 1% Injection is not approved or conditionally approved for New World screwworm prevention. This use is authorized only under the FDA's Emergency Use Authorization (EUA).

Dosage & Administration

Cattle

Administer subcutaneously at:

1 mL per 110 pounds of body weight

Swine

Administer subcutaneously at:

1 mL per 75 pounds of body weight
