Tax Exemption Policy

At American Farm & Home, we understand that certain customers qualify for sales tax exemptions. This page explains how to apply, what information we need, and how tax-exempt orders are processed.

Who Qualifies

You may qualify for a tax exemption if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • Farm or agricultural exemption
  • Resale exemption for products you will resell
  • Nonprofit organization with a valid tax-exempt certificate
  • Federal, Local, or State Government

Please note: Tax exemptions only apply to qualifying products. For example, farm and animal health supplies may be exempt, while dog, cat, and general household items remain taxable unless a valid exemption applies.

How to Apply

To apply for tax-exempt status, please email your exemption certificate to info@AmericanFarmHome.com

Include the following information in your email:

  1. Your full business or legal name

  2. Email associated with your customer account

  3. State of exemption 

  4. Type of exemption (Farm, Resale, Nonprofit, Government, etc.)

  5. A clear copy of your exemption certificate

Once we receive your information, we will review and verify your exemption. Approval typically takes 1–2 business days.

Ordering While Your Application Is Pending

You do not have to wait to place your order:

  • Go ahead and complete your purchase as normal.
  • If your order includes taxable items and you qualify for exemption, we will refund the sales tax paid once your exemption is approved.
  • This ensures your checkout experience is smooth and you do not miss out on the products you need.

Refunds are issued to the original payment method and will be processed promptly after verification.

Important Notes

  • Exemptions are customer-specific. Only orders placed under your approved account will receive tax-exempt pricing on qualifying products.
  • Exemptions only apply to eligible products in your order. Non-exempt products will remain taxable.
  • Keep your exemption certificate on file for future orders. We may need to verify periodically to remain compliant with state regulations.
